The problem
Keep the estate's financial records in order
An estate’s accounts show what it owns and owes, along with money received and paid out. We help you bring those records together so the financial activity can be followed and explained.
Tell us what records you have and what the accounts are needed for. We can then confirm the work involved and the information required.
Estate accounting focuses on that financial record: what the estate holds, what it owes, and the money moving into and out of it.
What the accounts organize
Support with the accounting side of the estate
In words rather than figures: the records the accounts bring together, and what they lead to.

Liabilities

Money received and paid out
Receipts
Money coming into the estate.
Payments
Money paid out, and other financial transactions, so the activity can be followed and explained.

Accounts prepared for the agreed purpose
Discuss the purpose of the accounts and the format required. The scope should reflect the estate’s circumstances and any requirements identified with the appropriate professional advisors.
The right level of support
Need the accounts prepared, or help deciding what to do next?
Estate Accounting focuses on the financial records and accounts. Estate & Executor Advisory helps you identify the accounting and tax support needed for your role as executor.
Getting started
Tell us where things stand
You may be at the beginning of the process or already have records that need to be brought together. A first conversation helps establish what has been done, what you are trying to prepare and how we may be able to assist.
A general description is enough to start. Please don’t send wills, account details or other sensitive documents through the form.
Helpful to mention
01
A general description of the estate.
02
Your role in the administration.
03
The records you have so far.
Common questions
Common questions
Is estate accounting the same as filing an estate tax return?
No. Estate accounting concerns the financial records and accounts of the estate. Tax preparation is a related but separate service. We can discuss which work you need covered.
Can I enquire if estate administration is already underway?
Yes. Explain the stage you have reached and the accounting help you need. We can then discuss the records available and whether the work falls within our scope.
Does an estate accountant replace an estate lawyer?
No. Accounting support and legal advice serve different purposes. Questions involving legal interpretation or representation should be discussed with the appropriate legal professional.
What should I prepare for the first conversation?
A general description of the estate, your role and the records you have is a useful starting point. We can identify the documents needed once the scope of the enquiry is understood.
